Signs & Symptoms

The signs and symptoms of ovarian cysts vary depending on the type of cyst. You need to be aware of any changes in your body and to know which symptoms are very serious.

Following are some of the signs and symptoms:

Heavier than normal period and/or abnormal bleeding
Painful periods
Painful intercourse
Nausea or vomiting
Difficulty emptying your bladder all the way
Hirsutism - male pattern of hair growth (face, legs, arms)
Weight gain
Breast tenderness

Seek immediate medical help for these:

Sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain
Pain with fever and/or vomiting
Dizziness, faintness or weakness
Rapid breathing
